The ubiquitous presence of Innate Lymphoid Cells (ILC) in different tissues is undoubtable, what remains to be answered is the relevance of these cells in cancer and immune dysfunction diseases. Frequently present in solid tissues, the quantification and analysis of ILC subtypes, functions and disorder depends on reproducible cell isolation. Beyond cell isolation, a problem across many fields is the reproducibility of cell biology assays, in part undermined by poor antibody reproducibility. How do you answer any of these questions with poorly reproducible methods?

Miltenyi Biotec has resolved many of these issues with a view to empowering the next generation of researchers. Defined tissue dissociation using an automated instrument and purified enzyme kits will result in greater yields and reproducibility of cell isolation. Recombinant antibodies have reduced background, less chance of non-specific binding and no blocking requirement.

Ultimately ILCs remain a critical component of the immune system and only time, and further research will determine how we will harness these cells to understand, diagnose and treat disease.
